Police investigating body found in Nelson

Police are investigating the unexplained death of a man in Nelson.

Detective Inspector Lex Bruning said officers conducting an unrelated visit to the property in Suffolk Rd, in the suburb of Stoke, became aware of a deceased person about 8pm on Friday.

The man's body appeared to have been there for some time, and the circumstances were unclear at this stage, he said.

The Institute of Environmental Science and Research would assist with a full scene examination.

This was expected to take several days and would include a forensic post-mortem.
