The first run on the newly-repaired Redemption Downhill on the Port Hills will take place on Saturday, January 25, as part of the
Crankworx Summer Series' Ride with Rae
event.
The event will feature two-time national downhill champion Rae Morrison, who will lead female riders of all ages and abilities down the track.
The Redemption Downhill was scheduled to open last year until the Port Hills fire on February 14 damaged parts of the track.

"Crankworx's Ride with Rae programme is a great example of how a sports festival can connect youth with their heroes, inspiring the next generation of downhill mountain biker champions from Canterbury," said ChristchurchNZ head of major events Karena Finnie.
"Giving our girls the first chance to ride this course makes it super special for our up-and-coming female talent and stars of tomorrow."
Crankworx chief executive Ari Tibble said the event would give women and girls the chance to bond with their fellow riders.
"The deepest connections to the local mountain biking culture happen when riding bikes with like-minded individuals.
"The Ride with Rae day gives a group of like-minded ladies a chance to connect with each other, with a legend of the sport, with the local trails, and with this epic event."
Said Morrison: "Rides like this are essential to creating more opportunities for women and girls to connect, grow, and ride in a supportive environment.
"Riding the Redemption track together is a chance to build confidence, learn from one another, and have fun while fostering a strong and inclusive community."
